Introduction

Back in 2012, Dana traveled to Cambodia during the summer for her yearly three-week vacation. While traveling, Dana missed her three beautiful daughters so much that she went online to search for a place where she could be with children. Immediately, her attention was caught by “The Smiling Hearts Association for Children,” a private Primary English school located in the city of Siem Reap that provides free classes to two neighboring villages. After receiving a warm, welcoming e-mail response from the school director, Dana decided to come by the school for a visit. Yet, little did she know that this “come by for a visit” plan ended up being a two-week of volunteering and the key that awakened her passion to help the less privileged.

“The volunteering opportunity helped me realize how I might be able to bring love and light into someone’s life. I did not have to quit my job. I did not have to become a billionaire to give back.”
